The CrashPlan Setup Wizard ended prematurely…

Monday morning eh? It surely is!

Trying to install CrashPlan 4.4.1 (CrashPlan-x64_4.4.1_Win.exe) is proving to be a lot more hassle than it should..

Error messages shortly after kicking off the .msi installation:

The CrashPlan Setup Wizard ended prematurely
CrashPlan setup ended prematurely because of an error. Your system has not been modified. To install this program at a later time, please run the installation again.
Click the “Finish” button to exit the Setup Wizard.

Event viewer has some additional info but not much:

Beginning a Windows Installer transaction: C:\Users\SPNAdmin\AppData\Roaming\Code 42 Software\CrashPlan\install\4A51F59\Installer-x64.msi. Client Process Id: 5180.

Windows Installer installed the product. Product Name: CrashPlan. Product Version: 4.4.1. Product Language: 1033. Manufacturer: Code 42 Software. Installation success or error status: 1603.

Product: CrashPlan — Installation failed.

Solution, as usual, was pretty simple. It turns out that Windows firewall needs to be started for the installation to complete properly (odd one I know!) Mine was turned off so simple netsh command to turn it back on did the trick:
