Following on from last year’s successful event (Kaplan Mountain Challenge 2012) we are at it again! Kaplan Mountain Challenge 2013 is definitely happening and 50k at killer pace is all but waiting. Team of four called Health Raiser has been assembled to take on the challenge, list of, equally brave and stupid, members is as follows:
Apart from hiking aspect of this event there is fundraising involved too. We aim to raise as much as we possibly can but the bare minimum required is roughly ~£300 per member bringing the total to about £1200 per team. Selected charities we will donate all collected funds to are:
Donations are being accepted through Virgin Money Giving page so please donate what you can, we appreciate any amount!
Running totals for last year donations were £2452.50 so there is our target to aim at!
Lastly, for those of you who are unfamiliar with what this challenge is about (or its unclear until now), here’s a brief recap:
The time has come to formally launch the Kaplan Mountain Challenge 2013. The event will take place on Monday 17th June, with participants travelling down and staying over on Sunday 16th and leaving after the event on Tuesday 18th June.
As with last year’s Challenge, this year’s revisits the breath taking Carneddau mountain range and also features a section of the North Wales Path that meanders along the north coast of the country from Bangor to Prestatyn.
In 2013, teams will choose one of two route options: either a 36k or 50k mountain route. Both routes start and finish in the picturesque town of Rowen and will provide participants with stunning views in one of the quieter areas of the Snowdonia National Park. Of course no Kaplan Mountain Challenge would be complete without an evening celebration at the magnificent Caer Rhun Hall.
The event is open to teams of 4-7 participants. Again we are limiting the event to a maximum of 60 participants. There is an initial target of £50 per team member.
As last year, teams will be able to nominate one charity, national or local, that they wish to support. 50% of all funds raised by your team will go towards your chosen charity. The other 50% you raise will go to one of our national educational charities, the Helena Kennedy Foundation. (We have an arrangement with Every Child Counts whereby we can continue to volunteer in local schools but take a break from fundraising for them because they have been able to bank an amount from previous years.) When you enter the Virgin Money Giving Site (link below) and set up your page, please enter these percentages to allocate monies to the charities.
2nd place…woohoo!!
